Weekly wag : 4
One of my pet hates is dog fouling (not talking about dog’s that play dirty at football either). I think it’s the ultimate laziness and considering you put the food in the end to make the mess why can’t you clean it up? We all know you should so why risk health, annoyance and just plainly be a dirty bad dog owner by not carrying around some bags. It looks like the laws are being clamped down with some new byelaws. How effective this will be I don’t know as some dog owners just seem to be singing in their heads about anything to do with cleaning up after their dogs. I’ve even had people say poo bags are expensive, tip here is to use scented nappy bags - smell nice, cost under a £1 for over 200 and do the job.
I love to see dogs actually work and apart from gun dogs Husky’s rate high on my list of what dogs are meant to do and do well. The recently crowned triple world champions have made an appeal for funding. Just that image that accompanies the article says it all - happy working dogs. I see it as a great cause.
Not a weekly wag really but there are a lot of articles about this time of year relating to the ‘dog is not just for Christmas’ theme. I have got proof of the little balls of fluff quickly turning into slamming door, nirvana playing whilst eating wood chip and bouncing off walls, nature of dogs - see exhibit Dillon. Here is a great article about buying a puppy for Christmas. A dog no matter what age should never be done without thought - I would extend this to any animal of any type really. It’s just sensible. The article points to considering adopting a shelter or rescue dog, this also has to be considered carefully. As the age old phrase says it so well ‘a dog isn’t just for Christmas’.
Whatever you do this Christmas, dogs are part of the family so think about them. New year is also time to think of them as people tend to get out the fireworks again. Just consider them and include them in your celebrations - they are worth celebrating.
